Colorado Buffaloes football coach Deion Sanders isn’t going to be subjective about his son, Shedeur, anymore.
Coach Prime backed up Ryan Clark, who recently claimed that the “Grown QB” was being treated exactly like a fifth-round pick should be, in the comments of an Instagram post from the ESPN host firing back at “sellout” accusations.
Deion said he spoke for the whole Sanders clan.
"We love you my brother and I'm speaking for the Sanders family,” Deion said. “Keep on being u. I respect u admire u and can count on u to keep it (100)!"
Coach Prime and Clark never played at the same time, but they’ve both been in media circles since the latter’s retirement in 2014. They know each other enough for Sanders not to bash his take.
Besides, Deion doesn’t take aim at individuals – something he noted the media doesn’t do while speaking about his coaching staff. Pat Shurmur has become a target of criticism since his and Sanders’ late-game clock management caused the team to lose 27-20 to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
Hence, the peace with Clark. Clearly, Sanders isn’t going to stress out about every comment about his sons any longer. With the NFL season starting, Shedeur is a third-string backup on the Cleveland Browns, and Shilo is unsigned and not 100% expecting another opportunity to arise.
There’s no need to fight the facts anymore. Coach Prime fought the good fight for his sons while they were at CU, but now they’re grown men out of college and need to figure out their own paths.
Not that Deion wouldn’t have something for them to do if coaching or working in some capacity for the Buffs is of any interest to Shedeur and Shilo, who could join their brother, Deion Jr., in Boulder.
