Browns radio rips team for holding roster spot for CU legend Shedeur Sanders after practice snub image

The Shedeur Sanders and Cleveland Browns saga continues to escalate with new twists almost daily. Sanders is the most-watched non-starting quarterback in the NFL — not for his play, but for how his situation is being handled by the team. Despite the rocky circumstances, he continues to make a meaningful impact off the field.

“I’ll be honest with you, I’ve never seen what Shedeur Sanders is doing this early on in a player’s career,” Cecil Shorts said on Cleveland’s 92.3 The Fan. “I’ve never seen that before, I’ve never seen a rookie come into the league and before he even played a snap is already in the Garden Valley Projects … All the things he’s doing (in the community). It’s a special thing he’s doing, that’s not normal.”

Sanders has been under constant scrutiny — even for what he was wearing on the sideline last Sunday.

“On the sideline, with the backwards hat, sunglasses, and the whole look of it, I would just remind Shedeur, lock in on the game,” ESPN Cleveland’s Aaron Goldhammer said.

Now, questions are being raised about his role on the team. Reports suggest Sanders isn’t even running the scout team — which has led to even more criticism from local media.

“I’m hearing Shedeur isn’t even running scout team, he’s literally watching everyone... why is he on the team, why is he here,” Tony Rizzo said.

Rizzo didn’t hold back, criticizing both Sanders and the Browns for how this has played out. It’s unfortunate, considering Sanders clearly has the potential to be an NFL quarterback — but the Browns don’t seem to be offering him the developmental environment he needs.

At this point, Sanders simply wants a chance — whether it’s on the practice field or the game field. If the Browns end up cutting him, it could prove to be a major misstep, as he might thrive with the right support system in place elsewhere.
