ESPN’s Paul Finebaum has said some outrageous things in the past, but this must be the most outrageous thing he has ever said.

Finebaum is begging his bosses at ESPN to fire Nick Saban from College Gameday so he can coach Alabama again.

When asked if Saban should return as head coach, fact or fiction, Finebaum said fact.

“That would be fact. Bring him back. Get him off the GameDay set, put him out there today. Don’t waste a moment,” he said on “Get Up”

Earlier in another segment on the show, Finebaum had already said he thought Alabama looked soft and undisciplined compared to a program like Ohio State, the defending national champion.

“And you wonder why Ohio State is looking so good right now and Alabama is shaky,” he said, before further stating his case for a Saban return. “And besides, Nick Saban is wasting his time on GameDay. With all due respect to the network, three-and-a-half million people watching. But please, bosses down the street, let him go, let him out of the contract. Let him be there Saturday at Nick Saban Field.”

Saban has already said he has no interest in returning to coaching, but you wonder if that would change if things went from bad to worse for current head coach Kalen DeBoer.

DeBoer tried to explain what happened Saturday, especially with his defense, and he really offered no real answer. According to him, he was just as “baffled” as the rest of us as to why his defense didn’t play well.

The defense has been accused at times of looking confused and lacking effort by Bama fans, and DeBoer's defensive coordinator, Kane Wommack, seems to have confirmed Alabama fans' worst fears and what Finebaum called them earlier: soft
