Since their loss at Florida State, the one question that keeps coming up about Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer is whether he is the right fit for Alabama.
There have been several accusations levied against DeBoer since Saturday, including fit, the culture, and the effort by the players.
Alabama fans would have been mad anyway about losing, but it’s the way the Tide lost is that has fans and alums up in arms.
DeBoer probably didn’t help himself with his comments with Bama fans.
On his coaching show, DeBoer sounded a bit shaky when asked about concerns fans and boosters have about his team.
“We all are pissed off about what happened on Saturday,” DeBoer said on his coaches' show Wednesday. “We are. Just flat-out, that’s what it is. Starting with me, and to our staff, and to our team. There’s only one thing you can do is learn from it, and you have to respond. These guys have responded and done it in a great way. It’s one that I would have expected and I’m proud of them.”
He also emphasized that his team is full of “high-character” and “competitive players,” and explained how the pillars of his program are being emphasized this week.
Fans want to know if all of this will translate to the field. DeBoer and his players have given a lot of lip service to the media this offseason about how good this team is, and fans are tired of it.
They have gone in on players for making TikToks, their NIL deals, and for not playing hard. Even former Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron questioned star wideout Ryan Williams' efforts Saturday, saying he thought he was playing scared.
Fans and alums want less talk and more results. We will see if the Tide got the message Saturday.
