Kalen DeBoer waiting for the very last moment to announce the Alabama Crimson Tide football program's next starting quarterback does much more than build the anticipation.
It gives players less time to prepare themselves for working with the particular QB, particularly when we're talking about a wide receiver.
But not Tide star WR Ryan Williams.
When asked about it, the Saraland native wasn't too concerned about who would be throwing the football to him.
Instead, Williams is excited to see how well all three are progressing in the Crimson Tide QB room.
"I mean, the tape speaks for itself. We have three very good quarterbacks. And I mean, either way that it goes, I’m comfortable and confident in any of those guys, just because I’ve seen the work that they put in. They all have different tendencies," Williams opened up on The College GameDay podcast.
And, of course, it came with Williams dishing out another update on who stays the frontrunner among Ty Simpson, Keelon Russell, and Austin Mack.
"But Ty is the front runner right now. So, just trying to build a relationship with not only him but the rest of them, of course, and just get prepared for this season. We’re super excited," Williams said.
The highlight here is clearly the sophomore's strategy of building a good relationship with all three. While Simpson is the frontrunner to Alabama's QB1 seat, the starter might change at any point during the season.
Simpson getting injured, not performing well, or Russell looking more promising are just a few reasons. An unforeseen change like that will likely not affect Williams much, given his relationship with all quarterbacks.
No matter who takes the snaps, Williams is preparing to be a dominant force.
