The Alabama Crimson Tide may not have beaten anyone significant in Week 2 during their 73-0 win over the Louisiana Monroe Warhawks. However, the team did achieve several important feats for head football coach Kalen DeBoer.

As the Tuscaloosa News’ Colin Gay explains, the program took the narrative spotlight off DeBoer for a week before his team hosts the Wisconsin Badgers at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Alabama also kept DeBoer’s perfect record at home intact.

“After a Week 1 loss to Florida State, Alabama football needed something to revitalize the expectation surrounding the Crimson Tide heading into 2025,” Gay wrote.

“Alabama’s home opener against Louisiana Monroe was never going to be the opponent that cements a permanent change in trajectory. But the Warhawks saw a team eager to change the conversation.

“Alabama beat Louisiana Monroe 73-0 in front of a sold-out Bryant-Denny Stadium crowd, extending the Crimson Tide’s home win streak to 13 games.

“With Alabama’s win against ULM, Kalen DeBoer has still never lost a home game as Crimson Tide coach.”

The Crimson Tide is paying ULM $1.9 million for the one-sided beatdown. What Alabama is getting after a thorough trouncing of an opponent who owns a historically significant win over Nick Saban during his first season in Tuscaloosa is invaluable, though.

If DeBoer has nothing else over Saban, he has an undefeated record and no home losses to the Warhawks.
