The Washington Wizards couldn't catch a break.
Well, actually, they caught all the commercial breaks.
Observant viewers of the NBA Draft's first round on ESPN on Wednesday night noticed something. When the Wizards were picking, the draft went to commercial.
It happened at each of their first three picks, and from its start at 8 p.m. until about 10:30 p.m., there was only one non-Wizards-pick commercial break.

Hahahaha! Commercial No. 3 with the Wizards on the clock. They’ve taken 4 breaks in 2.5 hours and three have been the three times WSH was on the clock. Numbers approximately.
It does make sense that ESPN would want to prioritize analyzing certain teams' upcoming selections over others.
But the repetition of this is quite humorous, because it suggests that someone legitimately decided that the Wizards were the TV break team.

The broadcast always came back before the pick was actually announced, so no one missed those moments. There was just less, "I think the Wizards should do this," or "I think the Wizards should do that," from the analysts than there was for other teams.
And it certainly clears up for the Wizards where they fall in the NBA television pecking order.
