Kings predicted to sign 9-time All-Star, future HOF point guard in free agency image

The Sacramento Kings have a glaring hole at the point guard position. After trading De’Aaron Fox to the San Antonio Spurs last season, they are now without a main ball-handler/distributor. That’s why many of the Kings' free agency rumors have linked the teams to the few available point guards.

Ricky O’Donnell of SBNation made his “NBA free agency predictions for 12 best available players on 2025 market”.

The Kings grabbing a 9-time All-Star point guard was one of his top predictions

“Russell Westbrook Prediction: Sacramento Kings

Predicted contract: Two years, $6 million

Westbrook revived his career this past season with the Denver Nuggets, and the Kings and Knicks are among the teams reportedly interested. Sacramento badly needs a point guard after employing both Tyrese Haliburton and De’Aaron Fox only a few years ago, and Westbrook is a nice bridge to whatever Sacramento will do in the future at the position. Westbrook wouldn’t be a great fit next to DeMar DeRozan, so don’t be surprised if he’s traded should Westbrook sign with the Kings. The fit is cleaner next to Zach LaVine and Keegan Murray. The Kings need someone to generate open shots, and Westbrook can still sort of do it on the brink of his 37th birthday.”

This would be a very typical Kings free agency signing. Westbrook is probably a better name than he is a player at this point. But hey, that didn’t stop them from grabbing Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan.

Kings fans shouldn’t be too excited about this Kings free agency prediction. While a Kings-Westbrook signing might sound good. The reality would likely be chaotic and not result in many wins.
