The Suns’ franchise star, Devin Booker, has reportedly been involved in the Suns’ head coach search, but one key player has been left out.
A new report from Marc Stein of the Stein Line indicates that Kevin Durant has not been involved in the team’s search for a new coach, furthering the rumors that a Suns-Durant trade is going down this summer.
This doesn’t come as a huge surprise to many. The Suns quietly shopped Durant during last season’s trade deadline, potentially souring an already imperfect marriage.
Now, all signs indicate that the two parties will part ways soon.
Another question that needs to be addressed this offseason is: When are the Suns trading Durant? And also, to whom will he be traded?

Stein believes that the Suns aren’t in a rush to get a deal done. They will wait until the potential Giannis Antetokounmpo trade sweepstakes plays out, so they can assess the landscape before making any significant decisions.
Whoever they decide to hire as the next Suns head coach could also affect the imminent Durant trade.
The Suns obviously have two huge decisions to make this offseason in order to turn around their team’s fortune. If they don’t make the right choices, they could risk losing Booker down the road.
