Kevin Durant, 36 years old and competing with the Phoenix Suns, hasn’t forgotten about his memorable tenure with the Golden State Warriors.
After surrendering a 3-1 Western Conference finals lead to the Warriors with the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2016, Durant decided to send the NBA community into a frenzy by joining the Dubs in a stunning offseason move.
Durant secured two championships in three seasons with Golden State, defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers on back-to-back occasions.
While many were confident that LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, and the Cavaliers could continue winning before Durant arrived in the bay, the slender 15-time All-Star ensured a dynasty wouldn’t form in Cleveland, which appears to be his favorite accomplishment from his short stint with the Warriors.
Under a May. 9 post showcasing Irving's alluring ball-handling skills with the Cavaliers, an X/Twitter felt inclined to bash Durant for robbing the Cavaliers of multiple titles by signing with Golden State nine years ago, and the 15-time All-Star's response was one for the ages
“I rejoice every morning that it didn’t happen," Durant wrote savagely.

Since leaving the Warriors in 2019, Durant has struggled to find team success. The ex-Thunder star spent 2.5 underachieving seasons with the Brooklyn Nets before getting traded to the Suns.
The expectations were high from the get-go, but Durant and the Suns haven’t made encouraging progress with time.
Phoenix lost in the Western Conference semifinals in 2023, was eliminated in the first round of the 2024 playoffs, and missed the postseason this year with Durant as its No. 1 scoring option.
Although Durant will likely part ways with the Suns in the offseason, he’ll always be able to reflect positively on his time with the Warriors and keep Cavaliers fans up late pondering what could have been.
