The NBA season never really stops. Just three weeks after the Denver Nuggets hoisted the Larry O'Brien Trophy, the league will emerge from a brief hiatus with Summer League action.

Summer League is an important time in the season schedule giving fans, coaches, and organizations their first look at recent draft picks and younger players looking to earn a spot in the league.

This year's tournament begins with Sacramento's California Classic and Utah's Salt Lake City Summer League before it's on to Las Vegas for the NBA 2K24 Summer League.

When is Summer League for Las Vegas and Sacramento?

NBA Summer League 2023 will commence when the Sacramento Kings host the fifth annual California Classic at the Golden 1 Center on July, 3 and 5. In addition to the hosts, the Hornets, Warriors, Lakers, Heat and Spurs will take part in the California Classic. 

A replay of the 2020 NBA Finals in the Bubble kicks off Day 1 on July, 3rd when the Heat take on the Lakers at 3 p.m. ET but the blue ribbon event of the day will be at 5 p.m. ET when Victor Wembanyama could make his NBA debut as the Spurs play the Hornets.

The Summer League festivities make a three-day stop in Utah for the Salt Lake City Summer League between the Jazz, Thunder, Grizzlies and 76ers before heading to the bright lights of Las Vegas on July, 7. 

All 30 NBA teams will be in Las Vegas from July, 7 to July, 17 at the Thomas and Mack Center and Cox Pavilion. Each team will play a total of five games​​​ with the top two teams from their first four games playing in a Championship Game.

The Trail Blazers won last year's Summer League with an 85-77 win over the Knicks. Trendon Watford was awarded the Championship MVP, while Keegan Murray took away the Summer League MVP trophy.
