Michael Jordan's NBC salary gets $40 million contract update image

Chicago Bulls and NBA legend Michael Jordan is entering a new role with NBC Sports this fall. Jordan will be a special contributor to NBC's NBA return, and it should be interesting to hear from the consensus NBA GOAT.

For NBC, it has been over 20 years since they had NBA coverage, and they are coming back with a bang by adding Jordan to the fold.

Reports previously stated that Jordan's deal with NBC is for a whopping $40 million per year, which is a massive amount for anybody. However, that $40 million number has been ruled inaccurate, according to a report from Ryan Glasspiegel of Front Office Sports

"Elsewhere in the segment, Bet-David referenced internet rumors that NBC is paying Jordan $40 million annually," wrote Glasspiegel. "A source tells Front Office Sports that this number, which is about twice what Charles Barkley makes per year from TNT, is inaccurate. NBC declined to comment."

As Glasspiegel wrote, that $40 million per year would be twice as much as Barkley makes. The $40 million rumored number would be the top in the industry, with Tom Brady making $37 million per year, according to reports

That doesn't seem to be the case, although it remains to be seen how much NBC is paying Jordan to be a contributor. Then again, Jordan's net worth is $3.5 billion, according to Forbes

The NBC Sports NBA coverage begins during the 2025-26 season. It will be fun to see Jordan be a part of the team.
