Following two seasons that were shortened because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the NBA G League is looking to get back on track with its 2021-22 campaign.

The G League will institute a new format for the upcoming season, which will feature both a typical regular season and an expanded Showcase Cup. The G League will also introduce three new teams: the Birmingham Squadron, Capitanes de Ciudad de Mexico and Motor City Cruise.

Here's everything you need to know ahead of the 2021-22 G League season, including a list of every G League team.

When does the G League season start for 2021-22?

  • Showcase Cup start date: Nov. 5, 2021
  • G League regular season start date: Dec. 27, 2021
  • G League regular season end date: April 2, 2022
  • G League playoffs start date: April 5, 2022

How will the Showcase Cup and regular season work?

  • G League teams will be separated into four regional pods for the Showcase Cup. Each team will play 12 games.
  • The teams with the best winning percentages in each pod and the next four teams overall with the best winning percentages will advance to a single-elimination tournament during the G League Winter Showcase. All other teams will play in two games outside of the tournament bracket.
  • After the conclusion of the Showcase Cup, the regular season will begin. The top six teams from the Eastern and Western Conferences will earn a spot in the G League playoffs.
  • The NBA G League Ignite and Capitanes de Ciudad de Mexico will participate in the Showcase Cup but not the regular season.

G League games can be watched on the ESPN family of networks and NBA TV. They can also be streamed via ESPN+ and Twitch.

G League schedule for 2021-22 season

G League teams will play a 36-game slate for the 2021-22 campaign after the 14-game Showcase Cup tournament. Here is the schedule for the first week of games:
