The Basketball Tournament prize money breakdown: How will players split winnings in 2023? image

This year marks the 10th edition of The Basketball Tournament, a winner-take-all competition that has a massive prize for the champion.

There are 64 total teams in the 2023 tournament, and those rosters are packed with Division I and NBA talent. TBT players are no longer in the primes of their basketball careers, but they are certainly giving maximum effort each game knowing what lies at the end of the road.

How much money will the winning team earn at The Basketball Tournament? Here is a breakdown of how the prize money is distributed.

The Basketball Tournament prize money: How much do the winners make?

The Basketball Tournament presents participants with an all-or-nothing scenario. The last team standing will receive $1 million, and losing teams will walk away with nothing.

Prize money does not have to be handed out evenly. For example, The Ville has several players set to snag a share of $66,666 if it wins, but forward Luke Hancock and the team's coaches have agreed to take only $14,285.

Other teams, such as Boeheim's Army and Heartfire, have agreed to award each player the same share with slightly less going to the coaches. Bleed Green decided to give all members of the team the same share regardless of status.
