The New York Knicks enter the NBA Cup quarterfinals on Tuesday night having won Group C with a 3-1 record. Their opponents, the Toronto Raptors were 4-0 in Group A and will host the matchup as a result.
With New York making the quarterfinals, each member on the team received prize money. Ahead of Tuesday night's game, Knicks guard Tyler Kolek reveals how he spent his and how he plans to spend his next bonus if New York were to move forward in the competition.
According to James Edwards III of the Athletic, Kolek used his prize money to buy his mother a car. After that, Kolek continued by declaring his father is next.
In his second year out of Marquette, Kolek has seen the floor a lot more for New York, especially considering the deeper rotations that new head coach Mike Brown runs.
Thus far in his sophomore year, Kolek has averaged 3.7 points and 1.9 assists. Despite averaging 15+ points in his final season as Marquette, Kolek has yet to break out for the Knicks. That said, opportunities have been limited (10.1 minutes per game), currently playing as the fourth point guard on the depth chart behind Jalen Brunson, Miles McBride and Jordan Clarkson.
If New York were to win tonight, they would move on to the NBA Cup semifinals and face the winner of tonight's game between the Orlando Magic and Miami Heat.
That matchup would take place on December 13th at a neutral site in Las Vegas.
