After losing to the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals last season, the New York Knicks have done their best to improve their roster in the offseason.

They brought in former Sixth Man of the Year winner Jordan Clarkson for some scoring punch off the bench and signed former Philadelphia 76ers big man Guerschon Yabusele for valuable depth. But after retaining the rest of their core, they still have one more roster spot available.

While there have been a multitude of available names linked to that last spot, such as Ben Simmons and Russell Westbrook, there's a free agent out there who played for the Knicks last season who could be a perfect fit for what New York is looking for.

Knicks Linked to Re-Signing Guard Delon Wright

James Edwards of The Athletic recently linked the Knicks to a reunion with their former guard Delon Wright to fill out the final roster spot, and his skill set complements the team well.

"Another player on the Knicks’ roster last season, Wright had some good moments in the postseason when he was abruptly inserted by Thibodeau during the series with the Indiana Pacers." Wrote Edwards.

"Wright’s a big guard (6-5) who also is a very good defender. New York’s roster is currently missing a proven point guard behind Jalen Brunson — I think Miles McBride would best be utilized as a shooting guard — and Wright has familiarity with the roster having joined before last season’s trade deadline."

Wright joined the Knicks at the trade deadline last season after New York shipped center Jericho Sims to the Milwaukee Bucks and swapped the rights to international players.

While Wright isn't a pass-first point guard that the Knicks could use as a primary ball handler for their second unit, he's still a plug-and-play defensive specialist that meshes well with any team.

When Wright was forced to start towards the end of last season due to injuries at guard, the Knicks went 4-1 in those games as the 32-year-old veteran showcased his three-and-D abilities.

If the Knicks want to bring back a player who was a great fit in their locker room throughout their deep postseason run, Wright would be the perfect candidate for that final roster spot.
