After reaching the conference finals for the first time in over two decades, the Knicks have been a busy team this offseason. In these final weeks before training camp, the front office is still adding depth pieces ahead of the 2026 campaign.
Last offseason, the Knicks made upgrades to their core by trading for Karl-Anthony Towns and Mikal Bridges. This summer, the focus has been on making upgrades in the margins. During free agency, they added reliable role players such as Guerschon Yabusele and Jordan Clarkson. According to recent developments, New York has solidified more depth in the backcourt behind Jalen Brunson.
On Friday morning, NBA insider Shams Charania reported the latest on the Knicks. They've made yet another signing, agreeing to a one-year deal with former Sixth Man of the Year Malcolm Brogdon.

Injuries have long been a factor with Brogdon, but when on the court, he's proven to be a reliable point guard. The 32-year-old is coming off a season with the Washington Wizards where he appeared in just 24 games. In that time, Brogdon averaged 12.7 PPG, 3.8 RPG, and 4.1 APG.
Brogdon has long been one of the more interesting names on the free-agent market, and he finally has a home for next season. He'll be joining a Knicks team with aspirations of making a run to the NBA Finals in a weakened Eastern Conference.
Seeing that New York has multiple options in the backcourt now, they might be a team capable of limiting the wear and tear on Brogdon and getting him through the regular season healthy.
