The New York Knicks appear to have finally found their next head coach after firing Tom Thibodeau following an Eastern Conference Finals berth.

On Wednesday, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that a four-time NBA champion coach is expected to take over for Thibodeau in New York.

“The New York Knicks are expected to land two-time NBA Coach of the Year Mike Brown as the franchise's next head coach," Charania wrote on X/Twitter.

“Knicks president Leon Rose underwent a thorough process since the firing of Tom Thibdoeau a month ago. The Knicks requested permission for five NBA head coaches and were denied, then interviewed several available coaches and went through multi-round stages with candidates.”

“Brown is a four-time champion as a top assistant in Golden State (Warriors) and San Antonio (Spurs) under Steve Kerr and Gregg Popovich and has coached an array of superstars across three decades coaching in the NBA. Most recently in 2022-23, Brown's Kings had the best-rated offense in the NBA.”

Brown started this past season as the head coach of the Kings, but was relieved of his duties following an unacceptable 13-18 start to the year.

As a head coach, Brown has won two Coach of the Year awards in the big leagues (one with the Cleveland Cavaliers and one with the Kings).

As an assistant, Brown has won four NBA titles with two different franchises (Spurs and Warriors).

Now that the Knicks have solidified their head coach of the future, they can focus on making the necessary adjustments to their roster this summer.
