After 10 years in Indiana and two straight Conference Finals appearances, former Indiana Pacers center Myles Turner signed a four-year, $108.8 million contract with the Milwaukee Bucks last offseason.
The move came as a shock to Pacer fans, as Turner chose to sign with a vaunted division rival in Milwaukee, and even took a shot at Indiana in the process.
"I'm in a city now that wants to celebrate me. There's a great quote that says 'go where you're celebrated'. I feel like that's here."
Myles Turner calms down Pacers fans, clarifies comments
While some Pacers fans initially thought that Turner was talking about them, he backtracked his comments and clarified what he meant on social media.
"This Quote Has NOTHING To Do With Indy Fans & EVERYTHING To Do With My Free Agency Experience," Turner wrote in a post on X.
It seems the Bucks' new big man was referring to Indiana's front office, who were unwilling to match Milwaukee's contract offer for Turner's services.
Pacers President of Basketball Operations, Kevin Pritchard, had said he felt "blindsided" by Turner's departure back in July.
"If I'm being perfectly honest, again, I thought we were kind of going back and forth in an open way. We've done big deals with that agency, and they're great guys and we'll be doing more business with them. But Myles must've heard something in that (Bucks offer) that said, 'I'm gonna take it right now,'" explained Pritchard.
Regardless, the Bucks and Pacers will see each other at least four times this season in the Eastern Conference's Central Division, and there's sure to be fireworks when Turner returns to Indiana.
