Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo shared his thoughts on the vitriol surrounding Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese.
Antetokounmpo reposted an X post showing a minute-long clip of Sky guard Ariel Atkins defending Reese, sounding off to media members about the non-basketball scrutiny Reese faces.
In the rant, Atkins said, “The amount of crap [Reese] gets on a daily basis, she still shows up. … All the other nonsense, it’s irrelevant. We’re here to play basketball. We’re having a hard time right now at the end of the day. This is a 23-year-old kid who handles herself with grace. Her crown is heavy.” Reese also appeared to get emotional sitting next to Atkins as she spoke.
Antetokounmpo wrote a simple, six-word (and two-emoji) response: “That’s a great teammate right there💯💪🏾”

While Reese has been the subject of significant scrutiny since coming into the WNBA last year, largely due to her expressive personality on the court coupled with her rivalry with Caitlin Clark, it is clear Atkins has seen enough, and Antetokounmpo supports her.
Antetokounmpo has been much more active on X than usual recently and given the uncertainty around where he will play basketball next season, every post he has is hyper-analyzed to find some sort of nugget that will reveal his intentions to request a trade or not.
Instead of giving more to the wannabe-big-J-journalists on social media, Antetokounmpo took a moment to praise another athlete sticking up for her teammate in the midst of crippling public pressure and scrutiny.
