Will the Los Angeles Lakers make another big move before the offseason is over? Some think the Lakers are done, while others believe in the Lakers' trade rumors. They could stand to make a few more roster adjustments if they have their sights on an NBA championship this season.
SB Nation’s Jacob Rude presented three different Lakers trade ideas that would help make the Lakers contenders.
“Suns get: Gabe Vincent, Maxi Kleber
Lakers get: Brooks
From a fan favorite to a villain of the fans.
Brooks immediately became the target of the fans during the Lakers’ series against the Grizzlies, one that went terribly for him. He antagonized LeBron before the playoffs, then spent the series ducking reporters and getting ejected from games.
However, he wouldn’t be the first villain turned Laker with the likes of Ron Artest and Matt Barnes. Even Dwight Howard redeemed himself in more recent years.
And Brooks still is a decent player. He’s a great defender, arguably one of the best wing defenders in the league. He’s a streaky shooter who is capable of some big performances, too.
With the Lakers, he’d almost certainly be a reserve, meaning his leash could be much shorter when he starts doing crazy things, which could help him, too.”
This Dillon Brooks-Lakers trade idea is far-fetched. The Phoenix Suns have said that they want to keep Brooks after including him in the Kevin Durant trade. They also would never accept this offer for him if he were available.
If the Lakers wanted to attach a first-round pick or two, then this deal could be more realistic. The Suns could decide that pivoting towards a rebuild is a better path. If they do, then a Dillon Brooks trade becomes much more likely. If the Lakers sweetened the pot with a couple of picks, they could maybe pry Brooks from Phoenix.

Brooks, next to Luka Doncic and LeBron James, would be a scary weapon. However, as things currently stand, there is no way this Dillon Brooks-Lakers trade becomes a reality.
