The Los Angeles Lakers continue to appease their superstar point guard, Luka Doncic, as the 2025-26 season looms closer.

On Monday, the organization reunited Doncic with a former Dallas Mavericks coach via summer hiring.

“The Lakers are hiring Jeremy Holsopple as their new head strength and conditioning coach,” the Stein Line’s Marc Stein reported on X/Twitter.

“As Dallas’ athletic performance director, Holsopple was named as the NBA's top strength and conditioning coach in March 2021.”

Doncic should attribute a good portion of his successful 6.5-year stint with the Mavericks to Holsopple’s beneficial behind-the-scenes work.

During the beginning of his NBA career, Holsopple helped Doncic maintain the quickness and vertical explosion that allowed him to thrive in the EuroLeague.

Toward the end of Doncic’s Mavericks tenure, however, the five-time All-Star began to slip in the fitness department, which played a significant role in his non-existent defensive effort in the 2024 NBA Finals.

After finishing the 2024-25 campaign with the Lakers, Doncic, once again, received criticism for being out of shape, which compelled Los Angeles to search for a new head strength and conditioning coach.

Considering Doncic has worked on his body this summer and will get an opportunity to receive much-needed guidance from an ex-coach/mentor moving forward, it’s safe to say he’s in a good spot in mid-August.
