The Los Angeles Lakers are likely hoping to make another adjustment or two to their frontcourt after signing Jake LaRavia on Monday.
However, acquiring a recently waived former Milwaukee Bucks star guard to help Luka Doncic shouldn’t be ruled out for the franchise.
"The Los Angeles Lakers could sign Damian Lillard to give them another superstar guard after he was shockingly released by the Bucks to make room for Myles Turner,” Lake Show Life’s Tyler Watts wrote Tuesday.
“LeBron (James) pressured the front office to make a splash. A future Hall of Famer and a member of the NBA 75 is now available and already being paid by Milwaukee. The Lakers love to chase superstar and this is their chance to get one at the lowest cost possible.”
“Lillard tore his Achilles in the playoffs and will likely miss the entire 2025-26 season. There are questions about the 34-year-old’s health, but he just averaged 24.9 points, 7.1 assists, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.2 steals in 36.1 minutes per game before the injury. Those are elite numbers, and Dame is from California.”
“There would be significant fit questions, including having to wait a full year to get production, but a team will sign him quickly. The Lakers should be that franchise because it is the chance to land a premier talent at a bargain rate.”

Before Los Angeles landed Luka Doncic in an NBA-altering Feb. 2 trade, Lillard was a legitimate trade target for the Lake Show.
With D’Angelo Russell underperforming in the postseason on multiple occasions, the Lakers believed the former first-round pick could provide stability at the point guard position if a deal came to fruition.
Surprisingly, the Lakers went in a different direction during the 2024-25 season, disappointing fans who dreamed of witnessing Lillard compete with the organization.
However, Los Angeles may consider contacting the nine-time All-Star now that he’s on the market.
Although Lillard is set to miss the 2025-26 campaign after suffering an Achilles injury during this past postseason, his game-changing playmaking, combined with his experience playing alongside bonafide stars, would make him an intriguing fit with the Lakers.
Time will tell if Los Angeles strikes a deal for Lillard in free agency.
