Magic Johnson knows ball. He is a former 12-time NBA All-Star, 5-time NBA champion, coach, owner, and basketball advocate. He has been in and around the NBA since 1980 and has watched a lot of playoff basketball. Magic also loves to voice his NBA opinions on his Twitter account. Tuesday morning, Magic made an NBA Finals prediction that doesn’t quite align with what experts are expecting.
As a Los Angeles Laker, Magic reached the NBA Finals nine separate times. He knows what it takes to make it out of the Conference Finals. That’s why Magic’s NBA Finals prediction is so interesting.
Magic tweeted, “I have the New Knicks beating the Indiana Pacers and the Minnesota Timberwolves beating the Oklahoma City Thunder to advance to the NBA Finals!”
Most fans believe the Knicks will beat the Pacers, and this part of Magic’s prediction isn’t that bold.
What is bold, however, is Magic’s belief that the Minnesota Timberwolves will beat the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference Finals.
A few experts have picked the Timberwolves to upset the Thunder, but as the best regular season team with the likely soon-to-be-named 2024-25 MVP on their roster, it is no wonder that the Thunder are favorites.

Still, Magic is an expert when it comes to playoff basketball, and his 2025 NBA Finals prediction, while bold, could still be more likely than many believe.
