As the NBA offseason approaches, the free agency landscape is buzzing.

Among the players drawing attention is a former Los Angeles Lakers dynamic point guard whose scoring prowess and three-point shooting could strengthen a contender’s rotation.

The Brooklyn Nets, his current team, are open to cutting ties with virtually anyone, which may lead to a surprising departure.

One intriguing destination for this veteran playmaker could be the Milwaukee Bucks, a team looking to bolster its backcourt around its Giannis-centric core.

According to Bleacher Report’s Eric Pincus, the player’s future with the Nets is far from certain.

“D'Angelo Russell is a talented scorer and capable shooter, but he has remained a journeyman throughout his career," Pincus wrote.

"The Nets may pay him simply to reach the minimum team salary (projected to be $139.2 million), but that might be designed to turn his contract around as a tradable asset. Otherwise, he’s probably facing a pay cut, and if he can’t get a team to give him the full NTMLE, he may have to settle for the TMLE with a team in need of a lead guard who can shoot the three. Prediction: Perhaps the Milwaukee Bucks step up with the best offer at the TMLE.”

Russell's ability to create offense and stretch the floor with his three-point shooting makes him an attractive option for teams like the Bucks, who need a reliable lead guard to complement Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard (Dame isn't expected to return until the 2026 playoffs if he plays at all next season).

Milwaukee’s offense thrives on spacing, and Russell’s three-point range could be nice to have.

The Nets, meanwhile, are in a rebuilding phase and have no use for Russell. His journeyman status—having played for five teams since entering the league in 2015—suggests he could be on the move again.
