The Houston Rockets might need to make some changes this offseason. Houston Rockets trade rumors have been picking up since the team’s first-round loss to the Golden State Warriors a few weeks ago. One Rockets rumor that has had a lot of steam is that the team is interested in making a Kevin Durant trade. The oddsmakers at DraftKings believe that a Durant-Rockets trade has a chance but isn’t the most likely outcome. A recent report, however, has some believing this Rockets trade rumor could really come true.
The Athletic’s Kelly Iko recently reported that the Rockets and Suns have been having conversations about a potential trade that would send Durant to Houston.
“Phoenix is aggressive in pursuit of a) trading Kevin Durant and b) regaining full control of their draft capital starting with the No. 10 pick in next month’s draft, team sources said. Since the conclusion of the season, Houston has fielded several calls from Phoenix, who have since gradually lowered their asking price for Durant, those sources said,” reported Iko. This sounds like there is a real chance that the Rockets and Suns will engage in a Durant trade.
The oddsmakers, however, only have the Rockets as the third most likely team to have Durant at the start of next season. They are +300 to start the season with Durant on their roster.
If a Durant-Rockets trade does end up happening, the Rockets need to be careful not to give up too many assets.

They made a huge jump last season and have a young and improving roster. Making a move before their young stars are really ready to contend could set them back further than just improving naturally.
For Houston, a decision they make this offseason could affect their franchise for years ahead.
