The Houston Rockets have moved on from 2023 first round draft pick Cam Whitmore. According to a report by ESPN, they have sent Whitmore to the Washington Wizards.
In exchange, the Rockets will receive a pair of second round picks from the Wizards. The trade comes after Houston and Whitmore decided to part ways, with the team working closely with his reps at WME Basketball to find a suitable team.
Washington allows Whitmore to return closer to home, as he is a Maryland native. Coming out of high school, the soon-to-be 21-year-old was a five-star prospect who landed with Villanova.

Whitmore's two-year NBA career with the Rockets saw him play in 50 games while making five starts, averaging just over 17 minutes per game. He averaged almost 11 points with 3.4 rebounds, shooting 45 percent from the floor.
The Wizards have drastically shaken things up this offseason, adding CJ McCollum and Kelly Olynyk for Jordan Poole while also drafting Texas guard Tre Johnson with the No. 5 pick in the first round.
