Stephen Curry may be on the older side, but the 6-foot-3 Golden State Warriors superstar is still at the top of his game at age 37.
Still, because most athletes don’t play into their late 30s and early 40s for various reasons, it’s reasonable to have doubts about Curry’s immediate future in the big leagues.
Last Sunday, Curry provided fans with a new retirement update before the 2025-26 season.
"No clue,” Curry told ESPN’s Malika Andrews Sunday when asked about his retirement timeline. “I just know it's closer than it was even yesterday. "Acknowledging it is fun, because the more I talk about it, the more I appreciate what all goes into preparing yourself.”
“But all of that stuff is just the privilege that you've earned. I'm trying not to put any timestamps or anything, other than the sense of urgency on it now."
Curry is still seeking his fifth championship this upcoming season.

The Davidson product clearly hasn’t lost the hunger that comes with being a fierce NBA competitor, explaining why he continues to hold his weight in the Bay yearly.
Curry’s gravity is unlike any others, as the 11-time All-Star regularly uses his supreme yo-yo handle, ridiculously deep range, and flamethrowing-like release to attract attention from multiple defenders on the hardwood (creating an offensive advantage for the Dubs).
Curry, who failed to finish the 2025 postseason due to a Grade 1 calf strain, averaged 24.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game on 44.8% field goal shooting and 39.7% three-point shooting on a Warriors squad that could have reached the Western Conference finals if they were fully healthy.
With Golden State upgrading Curry’s supporting cast before his 17th season (they signed several valuable free agents) and potentially creating a new Big Three with Curry, Jimmy Butler, and another high-profile star via a midseason trade, the sky is the limit for the seven-time NBA champions.
