The worst thing the Golden State Warriors can do is have a quiet trade season.

Stephen Curry is 37 years old and running out of time to maximize his championship window. The future Hall of Fame point guard’s supporting cast isn’t built to compete for a title, making a trade before the Feb. 5 deadline necessary.

Blue Man Hoop’s Josh Cornelissen believes that swapping an aging four-time NBA champion for a two-time MVP wouldn’t be a bad idea for the franchise.

“Is this deal (Jonathan Kuminga, Buddy Hield Zach Collins, Tre Jones, and five future first-round picks to the Milwaukee Bucks, Draymond Green to the Chicago Bulls, and Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Warriors) worth it for the Warriors,” Cornelissen wrote Monday.

“Moving on from Green is a difficult choice, but it's not altogether different than moving on from Klay Thompson.”

“The Warriors did that at the right time, and this could be the move to say goodbye to Draymond before he falls off a cliff or crosses the line again -- but it will still be difficult. Moving on from a four-time champion and the best defender of his generation is not a decision made lightly.”

Green is still playing his role to the best of his ability in Year 14. From embracing his point forward responsibilities to altering games with his aggressive perimeter and interior defense, Green continues to be the Dubs’ glue guy.

That said, if the Warriors discovered they had a legitimate chance of acquiring Antetokounmpo and jumpstarting their championship pursuit, it’s hard to imagine the organization refusing to move on from Green.

Antetokounmpo is a near-unguardable freight train who frequently draws multiple defenders and can make game-sealing plays when called upon.

The 30-year-old champion, who’s reassessing his future with the Bucks after Milwaukee's slow start to the year, is currently out with a calf injury and could very well spend the next leg of his NBA career with a different franchise.

Perhaps the Warriors will be the franchise that wins the Antetokounmpo sweepstakes this season.
