The Golden State Warriors have made a recent signing official.
One hour and 51 minutes after Hoopshype’s Michael Scotto reported that the Dubs had agreed to bring a 26-year-old ex-Oklahoma City Thunder forward on board, the Warriors’ PR X/Twitter account posted a news release that confirmed the move.
"The Golden State Warriors have signed forward Malevy Leons to a two-way contract,” the franchise stated on Monday afternoon.
“Leons, a 6-foot-9 forward, has appeared in 12 games (10 starts) with the Oklahoma City Blue of the NBA G-League during the 2025-26 season, averaging 14.8 points on 51.3% shooting from the field and 43.8% from beyond the arc, along with 7.6 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.75 steals and 1.0 blocks in 34.5 minutes per game.”
“In 59 career games over two seasons with the Blue, Leons owns averages of 11.2, 7.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.47 steals, and 1.03 steals and 28.2 minutes per game.”
Leons couldn’t have landed with a better franchise. The Warriors’ frontcourt has undoubtedly been their weakest unit so far this season, causing many to urge the franchise to make much-needed adjustments before it's too late.
Although Leons is on a two-way contract and has yet to prove himself in the big leagues, he could eventually develop into a forward that Steve Kerr feels comfortable playing for an extended period.
The Bradley product’s ability to play in the low post and on the perimeter should give him a good chance to carve out an impactful role with Golden State in due time.
