The Golden State Warriors must be built to win now.
With Steph Curry, Draymond Green, and Jimmy Butler all above the age of 35, there's no time for developmental projects. Golden State must cash in their chips and improve the roster around its veterans to compete for a championship.
In order to do that, the Warriors should use some of their young players to acquire proven role players who can contribute to a contending team.
Moses Moody Named as Warriors Trade Candidate
One of Golden State's best young players, Moses Moody, is coming off arguably the best season in his young career.
The 23-year-old shooting guard averaged nearly 10 points per game in 2024-25, shooting 37% from three. While Moody is certainly an ascending player, he isn't ascending fast enough and could be a valuable trade piece if the Warriors are looking to upgrade their roster.
Nathaniel Holloway of Athlon Sports recently put together a list of trade candidates for the Warriors, with Moody being a top option.
"Moses Moody played a large role for the Warriors last season both off the bench and in the starting lineup as he put together arguably the best season of his young career." Wrote Holloway.
"Despite this, the Warriors could look to move on from the 23-year-old guard this season, especially if they are able to land another key piece to their roster to help them chase a championship. Of course, it has been reported that Golden State is not looking to move Moody, though that could change if they are offered the right deal for him."
If Golden State is serious about putting one last contending team around the four-time NBA champion Curry, they should do everything in their power to make the moves necessary to do so, including shipping off young players with upside.
