Cavs lose Ty Jerome in disappointing $28 million deal to Western Conference power image

The Cleveland Cavaliers revitalized Ty Jerome's basketball career.

Now, he's gone.

Jerome agreed to a three-year, $28 million deal with the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday night, according to ESPN's Shams Charania.

The former Virginia star missed the 2023-24 season with a serious knee injury. But he came back this past season and was a bench star.

Off the Cavs bench in 2024-25, Jerome averaged 12.5 points and 3.4 assists per game while shooting 43.9% from 3-point range.

He's a huge pickup for the Grizzlies to play behind or alongside Ja Morant. Considering they just traded away Desmond Bane, Jerome will actually have a chance to start.

The Cavaliers pretty much knew Jerome was gone. That's part of the reason they traded for Lonzo Ball over the weekend.

It's still a bummer, though. He became a fan favorite, a bench weapon with immense swagger and ability that no one even saw coming.

But the Jerome chapter in Cleveland is done, and he's the Grizzlies' star to enjoy now.
