The Chicago Bulls just signed a three-time Slam Dunk Contest champion.

That's right: Mac McClung is the newest Bull.

NBA insider Michael Scotto reported the signing on Friday afternoon.

McClung had been in the Orlando Magic organization until hitting free agency this summer. Almost all of his playing time had come in the G League, for the Osceola Magic.

The high-flying McClung has appeared in six total games in his NBA career: two apiece with the Magic and 76ers, and one apiece with the Bulls and Lakers.

He has averaged 5.5 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game across those appearances.

McClung puts up big scoring and assist numbers in the G League, even winning a league MVP award. He seems to be as right-on-the-verge that a player could be.

The fact that McClung didn't sign until this late in the offseason likely means he's destined for the G League at least to start the year. For Chicago, that'd mean the Windy City Bulls.

But if McClung can keep playing as well as he has in the G League, maybe he'll get a more extended NBA run.

There's also another fun aspect to McClung joining the Bulls: He has a good excuse to break out a Michael Jordan jersey in future Dunk Contest appearances.

McClung has taken home the trophy three times, after all. Just because he's in a new organization wouldn't stop him from trying to defend that title, no matter whether he's in the big leagues or one run below during the season.
