The Sacramento Kings are officially entering the rebuilding phase.
Players like Domantas Sabonis, Zach LaVine, and DeMar DeRozan will be shopped around the league.
All three of these pieces, and even players like Malik Monk or Keon Ellis, could be of interest to a team looking to compete.
Most interesting on this short list of players is Sabonis.
At one point, Sacramento ran its offense through the 6-foot-10 big man, which led to its first playoff appearance in 16 years, the longest postseason drought in NBA history.
Now that they are nowhere near the team they were then, a team that could look to acquire Sabonis is the Boston Celtics.
Boston is currently 5-7, and although they are without Jayson Tatum, they are one legit center away from being right where they were when he comes back.
Sabonis has Nikola Jokić's playstyle, but he's much more aggressive in the paint and doesn’t have Jokić's passing IQ.
Boston is in the bottom half of the league in almost every rebounding category, but bringing in Sabonis would solve that issue in no time.
He has led the league in rebounding the past three seasons and is on pace to do it again.
He is an elite dribble handoff player, which would create more opportunities for Derrick White and Payton Pritchard.
Sabonis thrives playing from the foul line extended area, and is one of the best playmakers not only for his size, but in the league.
For a rebuilding Sacramento team, Anfernee Simon's expiring contract could be of interest.
Boston and Sacramento may link before the deadline to get this mutually beneficial idea done.
