There’s been some strange beef between Nike and Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown in the past.
Brown decided to start his own shoe company in the past, 741 Performance. Over the past year, he's worn them multiple times.
Throughout that same span, there have been instances where Nike takes unwarranted shots at him.
Jaylen Brown is ready to start new venture
Brown finally spoke about why he decided not to sign with Nike and create his own brand. According to the Celtics champion, he had a $50 million offer on the table from Nike, but it wasn't as great as it might sound.
"It wasn't as hard as people think. And it also wasn't all at one time; it was like over a certain amount of years. It wasn't like I just turned down $50 million at once, but it was like accumulated," said Brown on V-103 Atlanta.

Brown later added that Nike wanted him not to say anything controversial or anything that could disrupt the company.
For a brand as big as Nike, it makes sense that they want their athletes not to say things that the company doesn't agree with.
"If you say anything controversial or anything that disrupts our ecosystem of our company, we can terminate your deal. We can terminate your contract."
"So, that kind of makes you not have a voice. A lot of our celebrities and our athletes, they never speak up or they never say anything, because they risk whatever that contract is if they do. I don't like compromising my voice for nothing or nobody. So, I just told them I'll pass."
Brown has been outspoken about social issues in the past.
He has every right to say that and will continue to.
