The Boston Celtics will likely be without Jayson Tatum for the entirety of next season, drastically decreasing their chances of winning a championship.
One of their biggest weaknesses is the current big man rotation, which lacks a true starting center.
A possible player they could target, proposed by Fansided’s Jack Simone, is a 23-year-old, 6’9 center who has the potential to stretch the floor.
“Last season, (Day'Ron) Sharpe appeared in 50 games for the Nets, playing 18.1 minutes per contest. He averaged 7.9 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.8 assists while shooting 52.1% from the floor,” Simone said Tuesday. “Sharpe is also one of the best offensive rebounders in basketball and has been since he entered the league. Through his first four NBA seasons, Sharpe has ranked in the 97th percentile or higher at his position in the percentage of his team’s missed field goals he has offensive rebounded.
“But the real reason Sharpe could be a potential Celtics trade target is his contract. He’s only going to make $6.3 million this year and next year, making him fairly easy to acquire in terms of matching salary.”

Day’Ron Sharpe may not have had the biggest impact in his time with the Brooklyn Nets, but he has always been a bench piece there.
The Celtics could view this as an opportunity to experiment with a young center if they don’t view any of their current options as starter material.
Sharpe would fit the mold of an Al Horford type, whom the Celtics have seemingly shown no interest in bringing back.
Jaylen Brown will need all the help he can get next year, and giving a guy like Sharpe a chance could be a low-risk move that pays out big time.
