Bill Simmons hints a major Celtics trade could be coming image

The Boston Celtics have been making big moves this off-season. Perhaps their most significant was trading Jrue Holiday to the Portland Trail Blazers in return for Anfernee Simons.

It has been two weeks since this trade occurred, but as longtime Celtics fan and NBA insider Bill Simmons points out, Boston has yet to formally introduce Simons with a press conference.

Simmons posted this realization on X, along with the famous Brian Windhorst "pointing" meme.

The Windhorst meme notably came while he was making an appearance on ESPN's First Take, hinting at some insider information on an impending trade for the Utah Jazz. Hours later, the Jazz traded all-NBA center Rudy Gobert to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Could this exact scenario be playing out with Simmons' tweet? He is known for being extremely plugged in with sources with his beloved Celtics. If there is a trade on the way, it is highly possible he would be aware of it before the news breaks.

The fit of Simons in Boston is strange considering their backcourt depth (Jaylen Brown, Derrick White, Payton Pritchard) and lack of frontcourt depth. It could make a lot of sense for Celtics President of Basketball Operations to ship him off for a legitimate post presence.

The tweet also came just after a large trade was announced between the Jazz, Miami Heat, and Los Angeles Clippers headlined by John Collins and Norman Powell. Could another big news break be imminent?

In the spirit of the Windhorst meme: what's going on in Boston?
