Atlanta Hawks have good news on a Kristaps Porzingis contract extension image

The Atlanta Hawks have a lot of contract situations to figure out.

The most pressing is Dyson Daniels, but then there are deals to potentially work out with Kristaps Porzingis and Trae Young, too.

It's not all stress for the Hawks, though. The good news of Porzingis' contract setup is that they have between now and June 30 to figure out a new deal.

That's not the case with Daniels, who is working on an extension of his rookie deal which has to be completed by Monday at 6 p.m. ET.

Porzingis, and Young for that matter, can wait.

"Young and Porzingis are the two best players on the current roster, and fit extremely well with the young players the Hawks have around them," ESPN's Tim Bontemps writes. "Because of how the Hawks have managed their books over the past year, there's a world in which the Hawks could get a Daniels deal done, figure out deals for Young and Porzingis next summer, and stay below the aprons."

It would've been extra tricky for the Hawks if Porzingis had an earlier extension deadline. He's brand new to Atlanta and hasn't yet played for the Hawks in the regular season.

Porzingis is still an incredible player, but he's also quite the unique player type. The Hawks would surely like to see how he fits in what they do before they hand him a big new contract.

Thankfully for Atlanta, they'll get that chance. And Porzingis probably doesn't mind being patient, either. It's a new team for him after all, which means he can take the pulse of the organization from his own perspective.

In the end, it could very well work out for the Hawks, like Bontemps writes. A Porzingis-Young partnership may not be perfect, but it has the potential to be quite entertaining.
