Time is ticking on the NASCAR regular season.

As the playoffs inch closer, opportunities are dwindling for drivers to qualify. Luckily for one of the sport's most popular drivers, Kevin Harvick, he returns to a place that's been a great success — Michigan.

LIVE: Updates, highlights from NASCAR race at Michigan

Heading into the land of great lakes, Harvick is in need of a victory if he's to guarantee himself a spot in the playoffs in his final season. The No. 4 car driver is the active leader in victories at Michigan International Speedway with six. After winning two of the last three at the track, it's expected that "The Closer" is ready to compete once again.

Elsewhere, attention will be turned to Chase Elliott and the No. 9 team that's struggled all season long to find consistency and positive results. As the battle along the cut line intensifies, the season's final races have only become more important.
