The Toronto Blue Jays are patiently awaiting to see who they will face off against in the ALDS. The Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees are currently dueling it out in the AL wild-card series, but the winner of Thursday night's anticipated contest will head to Toronto for game one of the ALDS.
The Blue Jays had one of the best regular seasons in recent memory, and it earned them the top seed in the AL. They already know they will take on another AL East foe, it's just a matter of who, and Jays' star Vlad Jr. doesn't seem to have a preference on who it is.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is excited to take on either the Red Sox or the Yankees
It's probably a slight advantage for the Blue Jays that the Red Sox-Yankees series is going three games, because it forces both teams to use more of their respective pitching staffs.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was asked if he's been watching the series:
“Was watching the game yesterday, yes. Just to see who we're gonna face. We know those teams we've been playing them since spring training. Whatever comes, we just want to compete. We want to try to win it all.”
As for the third game in the wild card series between Boston and New York, the first two games have been tense, back-and-forth matchups, and now it all comes down to tonight's contest.
Both teams will go with a rookie starter, as Boston has Connelly Early on the mound, and the Yankees have Cam Schittler. Schittler has more big league experience than Early, but Early has shown the ability to pitch in big games throughout September.
