One of the largest issues for the current St. Louis Cardinals is their lack of star power. They previously had Albert Pujols, Yadier Molina, and plenty of other stars come through their roster. But, despite Nolan Arenado remaining on the roster, there is a distinct lack of star power in the lineup.

Thomas Gauvain of Redbird Rants urged the Cardinals to go star hunting and target some of the top players in baseball. He specifically called out Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Tucker, one of the top five players in baseball, as a star to target.

"Tuck is an exceptional outfielder," Gauvain writes. "And he'll be in his age-29 season next year, so whoever signs him will have at least four more years of peak performance out of Tucker. He certainly fit the "star" bill, but the Cardinals will have to beat out several other bidders for Tucker's services in free agency."

While the allure of a player like Tucker is strong, there's a reason why the wording from Gauvain isn't overly optimistic. Nearly every team that has an opening in the outfield will be going after Tucker. Not only that, but he will have also been coming off a season with the Cubs, and if it goes well, he could have more inclination to re-sign in Chicago.

However, despite the low chance of bringing in someone like Tucker, the Cardinals should still try as hard as they can to land him. He'd be a perfect fit and would allow the Cardinals to move on from the struggling youngster, Jordan Walker.

The Cardinals' outfielders in recent years have been a strange combination of talented and not living up to their potential. Walker isn't the first, and likely won't be the last. Instead of languishing over whether their outfielders can develop, the Cardinals should just break the bank and land someone like Tucker to resolve a huge hole once and for all.

While it'd cost potentially upwards of $600 million, the Cardinals would be getting a superstar if they signed Tucker. And, while not a major factor, stealing him from the Cubs would also be a nice touch.
