The Philadelphia Phillies are already locked and loaded for the MLB postseason, having clinched the National League East by a comfortable margin over the struggling New York Mets.
With the high-powered bats of Kyle Schwarber, Bryce Harper, and Trea Turner and the superb pitching of pitchers like Zack Wheeler, though an injury will likely keep him out of the playoffs, it's no wonder that the Phillies are arguably the best team that the NL has to offer right now.
However, outside of Wheeler, the pitching hasn't exactly been a positive, and if could be a bigger problem in 2026 if one notable pitcher bids farewell to the Philly faithful.
Is Ranger Suarez Playing His Final Games in Red Pinstripes?
The one pitcher that has been a silver lining for the Phillies outside of Wheeler is left-handed starting pitcher Ranger Suarez, who is 12-7 with a 3.12 ERA and 147 strikeouts in the 2025 campaign, and was a heavy Cy Young Award contender earlier in the season.
But according to Edward Eng on the Philles' FanSided page, the Phillies fans need to start saying their goodbyes to the long-time Philly southpaw.
"With the 30-year-old left-hander projected to get over $160 million on the open market according to Spotrac, Philadelphia fans are likely seeing the last of Suárez in a Phillies uniform as he hopes to help the team go on a deep postseason run before all is said and done," Erg writes.
Suarez has been in "The City of Brotherly Love" since his debut in July of 2018 and was named an All-Star in 2024.
