Another Phillies' Kyle Schwarber prediction spells good news for Philadelphia image

The Philadelphia Phillies have been one of the better teams in Major League Baseball over much of the past five-plus years, but they’ve also struggled a bit in the postseason at times.

As the Phillies head into the postseason and offseason, things could start to look a bit different for them.

Their top free agent, Kyle Schwarber, is expected to have a big market, which could hurt the Phillies' chances of keeping him around.

However, when looking at how things might play out, Christopher Kline of FanSided believes the Phillies are in the driver's seat to keep him around, predicting Schwarber to land a new deal in Philadelphia.

He noted that because the Phillies will likely outbid teams like the Cincinnati Reds, they should be in a position to keep him around.

“Philadelphia failed to hammer out a deal ahead of time, and there are rumblings of Schwarber's desire to return to his [Midwest] roots. But here's the [simple] truth: the Cincinnati Reds aren't going to out-splurge this Phillies front office, and Dave Dombrowski pays his dudes more often than most GMs.

“The Phillies really can't afford to let Schwarber walk out the door this winter and it's clear he loves this group, so there has to be some cautious optimism for a reunion this winter. Especially since there is only so much interest in exclusive designated hitters out there,” he wrote.

Schwarber is among the top power hitters in Major League Baseball, hitting home runs at a very high rate once again throughout the 2025 campaign.

He's poised to finish with at least 50 home runs with 49 bombs already, so allowing that type of player to walk for a Phillies team that has struggled when it matters most would be very questionable.
