Outfielder Byron Buxton made his feelings clear ahead of the trade deadline a year ago, stating that he has a no-trade clause and doesn't want to play for any other team.

Unfortunately for Buxton and the Minnesota Twins, things have drastically changed since then.

The Twins decided to cut ties with nearly all of their top players, and there's a possibility that another big-time move could be happening in the near future if they decide to move on from right-hander Joe Ryan.

For the Philadelphia Phillies, Buxton stating that he doesn't want to play in Philadelphia or anywhere else isn’t ideal, but according to the latest from Dan Hayes of The Athletic, Buxton might be willing to change his stance due to where the Twins stand.

“But a major-league source indicated Tuesday that Buxton, who turns 32 next month, wants to play for a winner and may reconsider his stance for certain clubs if the Twins continue breaking up their roster, potentially by trading starting pitchers Joe Ryan or Pablo López.

“The two-time All-Star center fielder has three years and $45 million remaining on his current deal, one which grants him full no-trade protection through next season, and the ability to block trades to five clubs in 2027 and 2028,” Hayes wrote.

Byron Buxton can answer Phillies outfield problem

While the injury concerns are certainly warranted for someone like Boxton, he'd be the ideal player for a team like the Phillies.

Philadelphia has been searching for ways to improve its outfield over the past few seasons, and if it doesn't have to give up a lot for someone like Buxton, he might be the cheapest and best option out there for the Phillies to pursue.
