Philadelphia Phillies' pitcher Aaron Nola took the mound on Friday in third place on the Phillies' all-time strikeout list, just four strikeouts behind Robin Roberts.

The veteran pitcher has spent his entire 11-year MLB career in Philadelphia, and further cemented himself in Phillies' history on Friday night.

Nola delivered eight strong innings, with nine strikeouts against the Minnesota Twins. Nola tied Roberts in the fourth inning with his 1,871st strikeout, and passed Roberts in the fifth inning.

Nola Moves To No. 2 on Phillies' All-Time Strikeout List

Nola missed a large portion of the 2025 season due to injury, and has only made 17 starts on the year. Although the Phillies' star has struggled since coming back from injury, that hasn't stopped him from continuing to climb the strikeout list, and he delivered his best start of the season on Friday night.

Nola has a 6.01 ERA through his 17 starts this season, but has still 97 strikeouts.

The Phillies' starter passed Cole Hamels earlier this season when he collected his 1,845th strikeout to move into third on the Phillies' all-time strikeout list, and on Friday night he passed Roberts with his 1,872nd strikeout.

Although Nola has passed both Hamels and Roberts this season, he has some time before he gets even remotely close to the top spot on the list. Steve Carlton holds the most strikeouts in Phillies' history with 3,031.

With Nola at age 32 and in his 11th year in the MLB, Carlton's Phillies' record is pretty safe. Nola has 1,876 career strikeouts and would need over 1,000 more to even get close to Carlton.

As for now, Nola can celebrate the achievement of further endearing himself to Philadelphia fans by moving into second place in franchise history with 1,876 strikeouts.
