The 2022 Pirates went 62-100. While the team went 76-86 in 2023, its fifth straight losing season, and didn't make the playoffs for the eighth straight season, there were signs of progress. Now, the young team looks to put it all together in 2024.

It is a true youth movement in Pittsburgh, as Henry Davis, Oneil Cruz, Ke'Bryan Hayes, and more look to create a winning culture. The young team could use a veteran presence and got it with the re-signing of Andrew McCutchen.

McCutchen, who got traded following the 2017 season, returned to the team that drafted him in 2005. He needs one more home run for 300.

“I would say it’s an honor to be part of an organization where he’s on their Mount Rushmore,” new signing Rowdy Tellez told TribLive. “It’s an honor to take the field with No. 22. It’s going to be really special watching him hit No. 300.”

Speaking of Tellez, the Pirates had a busy offseason, picking him up along with Billy McKinney, Martin Perez, Aroldis Chapman, Yasmani Grandal, and Michael A. Taylor. Securing Mitch Keller to a five-year deal, the Pirates are waiting for the emergence of top prospect Paul Skenes, who will start the season in Triple-A.

The Brewers look to continue their hold on the NL Central while the Cubs and Reds knock on the door. Can we expect several “Raise the Jolly Roger” calls this season?

Here's a complete guide to watching the Pirates this season without cable:

How to watch Pirates games without cable

For those without cable, there are several options to stream Pirates games this year:

If you're in-market, Fubo carries SportsNet Pittsburgh, the Pirates' RSN, but blackout restrictions apply. If you are within the market for SportsNet Pittsburgh, you can watch Pirates baseball via Fubo. Those out of market will not be able to watch Pirates games on the streaming service, since Fubo will not carry the out-of-market RSN.

If you live outside the Pirates' TV market, you can watch games via MLB.tv. For $149.99 for the season or $29.99 per month, you can catch every game from every team outside your local market. You can also pick a single-team option for $129.99 for the season. Again, this is only if you are outside the Pirates' TV market: If you are inside the Pirates' market, games will be blacked out. Games will also be blacked out if you live outside the Pirates' market, but inside the market of teams the Pirates are visiting.

Fubo is also carrying MLB.tv, for $29.99 per month on top of the Fubo subscription.

For nationally televised games, there are a few options, with some exceptions: Fubo, SlingTV, and DirecTV Stream all carry ESPN, MLB Network and FS1. YoutubeTV and Hulu + Live TV carry ESPN and FS1, but they do not carry MLB Network in 2024.

You can check if games are blacked out in your area using MLB's blackout tool.

Pirates schedule 2024

The majority of Pirates games this season will be available on SportsNet Pittsburgh. You can also stream Pirates games live with Fubo, which offers a free trial.

Out-of-market (OOM) viewers will be able to catch a select number of games in March and April.
