Two of the best teams in all of baseball in 2025 will clash in the American League Divisional Series. Cal Raleigh and the Mariners will face Tarik Skubal and the Tigers, with the winner advancing to the ALCS.
The Mariners entered the postseason as the AL's No. 2 seed, so they earned a bye and awaited the Tigers' Wild Card Series victory over the Guardians. Detroit snuck into the playoffs as the sixth seed, but the Tigers are a popular sleeper pick to go all the way.
The biggest storyline in the series is obviously the Big Dumper. Raleigh put up a strong case for 2025 AL MVP, finishing the campaign with an MLB-best 60 home runs, 125 RBIs and a .589 slugging percentage.
Both teams also have strong pitching staffs, but the Tigers might have the best pitcher in the world. Skubal won the 2024 AL Cy Young Award, and he's a strong bet to become the 11th player in MLB history to win the award in two consecutive years.
