The Milwaukee Brewers sit three games behind the Chicago Cubs for first place in the NL Central division. The Brewers' 1-2 punch of Freddy Peralta and Jacob Misiorowski should keep them in contention down the stretch.

Misiorowski took home the NL Rookie of the Month, which was announced early Thursday morning. The 23-year-old from Blue Springs, Missouri, has made a name for himself quickly since making his first MLB start in early June.

The fire-throwing right-hander started his career by throwing five no-hit innings, then followed up that start by taking a perfect game into the 7th inning. Misiorowski had 19 strikeouts in 16 innings in June. He also finished the month with a stunning ERA of 1.13 in three starts.

Misiorowski became the first pitcher in the modern era to have more wins than hits allowed through two starts and as many wins as hits allowed after three starts.

The rookie was outstanding in every aspect of his game in June, but July got off to a shaky start against the New York Mets. Misiorowski made his fourth major league start at Citi Field and gave up a second-inning grand slam. The flamethrowing right-hander was unable to complete four innings in the matchup in Queens.

At some point, Misiorowski was going to come back down to earth after his tremendous start to his career. The "Miz" spoke to the media postgame and said, "I threw good pitches, and they hit them, simple as that."

Misiorowski spoke with complete confidence that he will bounce back in his next outing.
