Florida's Jac Caglianone is one of college baseball's most intriguing two-way players, a star who draws attention at the plate and on the mound.

It's early to call it, but at this point, the Tampa native could have a future as a hitter or a pitcher at the next level based on the power he displays on both sides of the ball.

He's leading the Gators to their 15th College World Series appearance, and first since 2018, after a sweep of SEC rival South Carolina in the NCAA super regionals.

Fans seeing a player as talented as Caglianone inevitably wonder when he'll make the jump to the pros. Here's what to know about his MLB Draft eligibility:

Jac Caglianone MLB Draft eligibility

As a sophomore at Florida this year, Caglianone will be eligible to enter the MLB Draft in 2024.

Under draft rules, players at four-year colleges can enter the pool after three seasons or after they turn 21, whichever comes first. Caglianone will turn 21 just before the start of the 2024 college season, his third with the Gators, so he'll be eligible for next year's draft.

Entering this season, D1Baseball ranked him the No. 11 prospect for 2024, but his stock has only risen based on his performance.

Caglianone was both a Golden Spikes Award and NCBWA Dick Howser Trophy finalist in 2023 and earned NCBWA District 3 Player of the Year.

He didn't pitch for the Gators in 2022 as he made his way back from elbow surgery, serving as a designated hitter late in the season, but his all-around showing in 2023 has put him in the national spotlight.

His 31 home runs entering the College World Series lead the nation.
