With an embarrassment of riches in their starting rotation, the Dodgers will turn to left-hander Blake Snell to start their title defense on Tuesday night.
Snell will oppose right-hander Hunter Greene as L.A. begins its best-of-three NL Wild Card Series with the Reds.
After signing a five-year, $182 million contract in the offseason, Snell spent much of his first season with the Dodgers on the injured list with a shoulder issue. But, when healthy, he pitched well, posting a 2.35 ERA in 11 starts. The two-time Cy Young Award winner allowed just one run in 19 innings across his last three starts, racking up 28 strikeouts.
On the other side, the flame-throwing Greene will make his postseason debut for the Reds, surprise entrants in the playoffs after clinching the final NL Wild Card spot on the final day of the season. Greene pitched to a 2.76 ERA in 19 starts this season, fueling a stalwart Cincinnati rotation down the stretch of the pennant race.
